Requested Rev. C.M. Butler to give a lecture on "Washington City during the Rebellion" on March 20, 1862 before the Young Men's Institute of New Haven, Connecticut. Signed by William W. Boardman, Leonard Bacon and others. The letter on the verso, signed individually by Beardsley , provided more detail about the invitation was more personal in nature.
